Is health risks taking Rational?

Health risks are not taking rational so the answer is no. True rationality about these health risks would imply changed behavior, in which no one would smoke or use cocaine, and everyone would wear seat belts and control fat and calorie intakes. Each stress-managed day would include adequate exercise. We would never waste time or money achieving a glamorous tan. We'd be careful not to let our hand slip during a cocktail party discussion of artificial sweeteners and unconsciously grab a handful of fat-laden peanuts that could contain carcinogenic aflatoxins. Threshold hypothesis is a theory that it has it's believers, believers in the threshold hypothesis believe that carcinogens, like other toxic compounds, have a no-effect level and a threshold dose. 1. Animal systems have a variety of defense mechanisms able to detoxify and dispose of xenobiotic chemicals. Many factors determine whether a particular chemical is activated to become a carcinogen or is rendered innocuous. 2. The high doses used in many experiments for carcinogenicity can change normal processes of cellular activation and deactivation and can overwhelm natural defense mechanisms. One reason why these remain unnoticed is that the media do not focus on this area, and the laws deal only with hazards created by food additives, not with hazards naturally associated with foods.
